Woke up on the wrong side of bed today I think. Nah, just woke up HOURS earlier than I usually do cos my stomach hurt. It wasn't cramps though. There's a difference you know. If you don't you can come ask me. It's very difficult to explain it like this.
Dooms Day today. Have to teach the P6 kids in the evening and I have NO IDEA what I got myself into. It's like, I'm supposed to teach from these verses? But I don't even KNOW what they are talking about. So scary I swear. I hope I don't hyperventilate and totally lose it halfway through.
And I'm such a horrible Christian to begin with. What right do I have to teach others? But I believe that I was not given this task for nothing. Dear Lord. Please help me. I know I'm shitty and all but please help me.
Well the real point of this entry was to jot down some stuff I learnt during skiing lessons since yesterday was the last one before I go to Europe. ;_; NICK! You're an awesome instructor! I wish my softball coach was as nice, patient, encouraging and as GENTLEMANLY as you (he's great but he's so...rough. Not like you ;_
. I really learnt a lot. You're cool. Hope to see you again when I come back.
Anyways, I figured that if I forget what I'd learnt before I get to Chamonix, then I could just go to one of those dingy internet cafe places to refresh my rusty memory.
1. To put on your skis, start by hitting the bottom of your shoe on the bump on the ski to clean the snow off. Then place the toe first before the heel.
2. Warm the skis by sliding them back and forth.
3. The position you should ALWAYS keep no matter whether you are skiing downwards or side stepping, is to bend your knees against your shoe. Do it as if you are going into a kneeling position. In other words, if a person were to attempt to slide a finger in the front of your shoe, they won't be able to.
4. To climb up the slope, use the edge of your skis. One outside edge, one inside edge, depending on which direction you're facing. Always remember, perpendicular and parallel. Skis parallel to each other, but perpendicular to the slope, though you can point the skis slightly upward if needed.
5. To side step downwards, edge your skis again. One out, one in. The edges should be pointing down the slope this time, whereas they were pointing upwards before. Keep the two skis close. Slide one ski down, make sure you are firm, then slide the other ski down so that they meet each other again.
6. To slide down make an 'A' shape with your skis, making sure that both your skis are edging inwards. To go slower, make the 'A' shape (or plough) bigger. Make sure you are leaning forward so that your nose is over the front of your skis, and remember to bend your knees.
7. To go left or right while skiing down, do not lose your 'A' shape. What you need edge your ski more. If you want to slide to the right, edge your left ski more by putting more of your weight on the left ski. To slide to the left, have more edging for your right ski, by shifting your weight to the right. Make sure you shoulder is not hunched but rather straight then tilt (I can't really explain this). But no matter what, make sure you keep the bended position or your posture will be totally out and it's bye bye you.
8. Just in case you feel like you're falling, crouch as much as you can before falling SIDEWAYS.
Okie. That's it I guess. XD I love skiing.
